Needed for local cemetery in Temecula, CA. Under general direction of the General Manager, you will perform tasks involved in interment of human remains as well as lead, train, oversee, & participate in more complex & difficult work of crew responsible for providing Cemetery operation & maintenance & repair. Duties include: Setting priorities & directing work of grounds staff on day-to-day basis; Performing routine to complex maintenance & repair work including Cemetery operations, Cemetery facilities & buildings, landscapes, irrigation systems & controllers, & weed abatement; Providing assistance with set-up & removal of equipment & supervising operations for burials; Skillfully operating heavy equipment; Performing variety of technical tasks; Performing technical & functional supervision to assigned Cemetery maintenance staff; Reviewing & controlling quality of work; Assisting in completing employee evaluations; Participating in performing routine to complex & specialized Cemetery maintenance & repair work; Planning, scheduling, prioritizing, & assigning maintenance & repair work in consultation with General Manager & communicating status of repairs; Working cooperatively to schedule repairs in accordance with established & special operational priorities; Instructing staff on work procedures; Training employees in work methods, wise use of tools & equipment, & relevant safety precautions; Inspecting Cemetery infrastructure, facilities, systems, & appurtenances for maintenance needs & recommending appropriate actions; Assisting in developing work plans, procedures, & schedules; Estimating costs of construction & maintenance work, supplies, equipment, & materials; Ordering supplies & equipment for work projects; Maintaining records of purchases; Assisting in developing budget figures for Cemetery; Monitoring expenditures; Inspecting & evaluating work in progress & upon completion to assure that repairs, maintenance, & project activities are performed in accordance with District standards & specifications; Assisting in coordinating, overseeing, & personally participating in all Cemetery maintenance programs; Training, instructing, supervising, & maintaining records of workers in mixing, application, & safe use of pesticides & herbicides; Calibrating spraying equipment; Recognizing various plant diseases & applying corrective measures; Performing skilled operation of specialized construction & maintenance, light to heavy vehicles, & equipment; Observing safe work methods & making appropriate use of related safety equipment as required; Coordinating & participating in safety training, including, but not limited to, heat illness training; Remaining alert to unsafe practices, conditions, &/or equipment & reporting any such issues accordingly; Holding weekly safety meetings & maintaining knowledge of OSHA rules & regulations; Responding to requests & inquiries from public & answering questions or referring to General Manager; Performing minor adjustments on service equipment; Maintaining tools & equipment in working order. Staying current on status of new & pending regulatory legislation; Attending continuing education courses & seminars as required; Performing related work as required.
