Prepress Technician

Duties include: Conceptualizing, planning, designing, & producing wide range of specialized graphic design, typesetting, & illustrative material; Acting as customer contact for print submission; Working closely with customer service departments at Pro Document Solutions & International Security Products on projects that support their customers’ specific needs; Ensuring consistency throughout various projects; Exposing & processing digital plates, ensuring they meet quality & performance standards, in accordance with company policies & procedures; Listening & communicating effectively to understand customer needs & vision; Providing viable options for realizing that vision; Analyzing files provided by customer & determining suitability for printing; Verifying critical aspects of images & text; Troubleshooting & fixing file issues, including resolution, alignment, color, exposure, clarity, grain, & other image & typographic problems, as well as manipulating files for bleed & binding; Creating proofs for customer review, making needed adjustments in response to feedback, & creating new proofs until final design is approved; Double-checking proofs for quality, including clarity & alignment, before beginning print run; Converting approved image files for use with digital printing equipment or physical plate preparation; Ensuring plate making equipment is well maintained & in proper operating condition; Performing assigned maintenance activities according to departmental procedures; Punching & preparing plates to be processed, & processing according to departmental procedures; Inspecting plates for adherence to quality standards & customer specifications; Ensuring file is accurate prior to plate making; Ensuring adequate inventory of departmental supplies. Participating on cross-functional teams to ensure continuous, on-going improvement of processes, methods, productivity, & quality while reducing costs. 1st shift. Temp-to-Hire position.
