QA Lab Relief

Needed in Visalia, CA. Duties include: Performing routine analysis for raw & finished product essential oils such as aldehyde, ethanol, & optical rotation; Calibrating all laboratory equipment at beginning of each shift; Performing essential swabbing & sampling related to environmental & water monitoring program; Performing routine analytical tests per specification (Yeast & Mold, SPC, Coliform, HRM, LAB, ATM, & TAB); Performing routine analytical tests per specification (citric acid, brix, acid, pH, coarse/sinking pulp, pectin, defects, oil, color, Howard Mold, viscosity, blue dye, clarity, & absorbance); Performing analytical testing of inbound/outbound tankers & batches for in-process & finished goods; Ensuring product matches customer requirements & issuing corrections such as water, oil, & preservatives as needed; Performing analytical testing of incoming fresh fruit through in-process testing to integrity of final product (Samples must be extracted & analyzed in timely & efficient manner); Analyzing oil content using Berkel machine & performing oil efficiency testing on feed, separators, & crème tanks; Performing moisture testing of citrus peel after extraction of fruit & communicating wet peel loads to production team to ensure corrective action; Performing pre-operational audit & qualifying production equipment & tankers for use by observation & bioluminescence swabs; Participating in all performance evaluation programs such as cross checks & JBT Co-Op samples; Participating in plantwide food safety culture audit. Required qualifications: BS Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Biology; 3-5 yrs exp. in food processing environment; Proficient in using GC for analysis of essential oils to identify vital components such as p-cymene, octanol, & nonanal, & creating methodologies; Able to perform quality control tests & routine maintenance on GC; Able to interpret data & create trend reports; Proficient at entering results accurately into Portal/CitrOS/Sage; Proficient in MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) & large ERP applications; Ability to perform microbiological testing; Ability to operate fume hood, autoclave, autorefractometer, pH meter, auto titrator, centrifuge, spectrometer, & colorimeter.
